Japanese troops committed the greatest atrocity of an incredibly brutal war: the ‘Rape of Nanking’, in which an estimated 300,000 civilians were slaughtered. In those 300,000 civilians many teens lost their friends and members of their beloved family. During the hard time, you had no one to ask for help but your family. Everyone likes to have a sense of comfort ,and family can offer that with support, advice, and always being there through rough times in life. As teenagers, you valued each of your family member more than ever before, because being with them was a precious gift to you. If you had a family member that was sent off to war, all you had left is hope that they are still alive. Children who lost their parents during the war became orphans, called “war orphans.” Knowing that the person you look up to the most is lost, shattered their hearts, but you had to move on.
