Governments became involved with new issues such as rationing, manpower allocation, home defense, and response to occupation by an enemy power. Food, clothing, petrol, leather and other such items were rationed. The Japanese food rationing system was effective throughout the war. As a result there were no serious incidences of malnutrition. People back home had to cut down on certain food to help soldiers get as much food as they can. Teenagers couldn't get very picky about their food. Moreover, they had to be grateful that they even had food. |
